What is PDF to Word?

When you only have a PDF but need to change the wording, this converter extracts the text and builds an editable Word (.docx) document from it. Page breaks are kept, so the document follows the same page sequence as the original. To be clear about what to expect: it focuses on text. Pictures, fonts and the exact layout are not reproduced, which makes it ideal for rewriting, quoting and reusing content rather than pixel-perfect copies.

How to convert PDF to Word

  1. Choose a PDF that contains real text, or drop it on the box. If you can select words in your PDF viewer, it will work well.
  2. Press Start. The tool reads each page in turn and groups the text into lines in reading order.
  3. Download the .docx file and open it in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.
  4. Re-apply headings, tables and images where needed, then compare against the original PDF before you share the result.

Tips for better results

Check whether your PDF is text-based or scanned. A scan is only a picture of a page, so there is no text to extract; the tool will say so. In that case run OCR PDF first to read the text, then paste it into Word. For PDFs with complex columns, tables or design elements, expect to restyle the output. If you only need the words, PDF to Text gives you a plain .txt file, and PDF to Excel is better for tables.
