What is PDF to Excel?
Tables locked inside a PDF are hard to reuse. This tool reads the text positions on each page, groups them into rows and columns and writes an Excel (.xlsx) workbook with one sheet per page. It works best on text-based PDFs with clear, evenly spaced columns.
How to convert PDF to Excel
- Choose a text-based PDF that contains tables.
- Press Start. Text is grouped by row and then by spacing between words.
- Each page becomes a worksheet.
- Download the .xlsx file and tidy the columns in Excel.

Tips for better results
Complex tables with merged cells or very tight spacing may need manual clean-up. Scanned PDFs do not contain text, so run OCR PDF first. Always compare totals against the original.
Good to know before you start
PDFs contain no real tables, only words placed at certain positions. The converter groups words that sit on the same line, then treats a gap of more than a few points as a column break. Each page of the PDF becomes a separate worksheet, named by page number. This approach works well for statements and lists with consistent spacing, and less well for tables with merged cells, rotated text or very narrow columns. After download, use Excel's Text to Columns or simple copy and paste to tidy any cells that were split or joined. Numbers are written as text, so convert them to numeric format if you plan to calculate with them.
