What is Number Pages?

A long document is easier to navigate when each page has a number. This tool prints numbers at the bottom of every page, on the left, centre or right, in either a simple “1, 2, 3” style or “Page 1 of 10”.

How to add page numbers to a PDF

  1. Upload the PDF.
  2. Choose where numbers should appear.
  3. Select the style: 1, 2, 3 or Page 1 of 10.
  4. Press Start and download the numbered PDF.

Tips for better results

Numbers start at 1 on the first page. If you plan to merge files, merge first and number last so the sequence is continuous. Check that numbers do not collide with existing footer text.

Good to know before you start

Numbers are placed 20 points from the bottom edge, at the left, centre or right. The simple style prints the page number alone, and the full style prints "Page 3 of 12" using the total number of pages in the file. The font is a standard sans-serif at 10 points, so the numbers are small and unobtrusive. If your document already has a footer, check that the new numbers do not overlap it. Numbering is applied to every page, including a cover, so if you want a cover without a number, split it off first, number the rest and merge the parts again.
