The reader shows pages as images, so it is meant for viewing rather than editing or selecting text. If the document asks for a password, unlock it first with the Unlock PDF tool. Zoom in for small print and out for an overview of the layout.

The reader draws one page at a time on a canvas, which keeps it light and works the same in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Use the plus and minus buttons to change magnification, and the arrows to jump between pages; the label between them shows your position, such as 3 / 12. Because nothing is stored, closing the tab erases the file from memory. This is a handy way to preview a PDF before you decide which tool to use next: you can check page numbers before splitting, confirm orientation before rotating, or see whether a scan is readable before you spend time on OCR.
